Hi, I’m Rev’d Andrew Bird, and I have the privilege of serving as Minister at Sheldon Road Methodist Church in Chippenham. I live locally with my wife and our three school-age children. Our manse is in a new-build neighbourhood south of Chippenham, where we are helping to nurture a growing sense of community and exploring new ways for the church to connect with local people. I also have the privilege to serve with Christchurch Methodist Fellowship, Marlborough and support other churches across the North Wiltshire Circuit.
I’m passionate about helping people connect creatively with Jesus and grow in a vibrant, everyday life of discipleship—learning to follow him more closely together. Collaboration, community and team-based ministry are at the heart of how I serve. One especially encouraging example is the journey shared by Christchurch Methodist Fellowship and the local St Mary’s Anglican Church in Marlborough, where Christian unity is not just talked about but lived out. Exciting!
When I’m not involved in church life, I love spending time with my family—often on an adventure of one kind or another. I also enjoy gardening, fishing and football, and I’m always grateful for opportunities to relax, have fun and enjoy the people and places around me.
